Analyzing Data with Spreadsheet Filters 1
In Search of Data.
The Textual History of the Ethiopic Old Testament (THEOT) Project describes the various forms of the text of the Ethiopic Old Testament that exist in the manuscripts of the tradition. See the website at theotproject.com. This video is the first in a series of five videos about Analyzing Data with Spreadsheet Filters. In this installment, we simply tell the story of how the project learned to automate what had been manual processes and generate a huge spreadsheet of data. In this video Steve Delamarter, Ralph Lee, and Garry Jost explain the ten steps necessary to prepare transcriptions of manuscripts in order to be able to generate our all-important "data sheet" on each book of the Ethiopic Old Testament. But these ten steps were only preparatory for the sixteen processes by which we have learned to analyze and filter the data toward ever-more useful conclusions.

Preparing Filters in Spreadsheets.
The Textual History of the Ethiopic Old Testament (THEOT) Project describes the various forms of the text of the Ethiopic Old Testament that exist in the manuscripts of the tradition. See the website at theotproject.com. This video is the third in a series of five videos about Analyzing Data with Spreadsheet Filters. In this installment, Steve Delamarter and Ralph Lee explain the process by which they sorted out one of the most significant findings of the THEOT project: the phenomena of EthI Minority Variants and their Fate in the EthII period. This was accomplished by harnessing the power of spreadsheet filters. In this video, they provide an overview of the process; in video 4 of the series they demonstrate the process as it was applied to the data.
